Those factory steps on your Yukon XL or Chevy Suburban are at their stress limit when you step on them. If you ever bump or hit them offroad on the rock/stump/ledge… they will bend. And they might just damage your rocker panels when they do. They also hang super low on the 3rd Gen trucks. Get rid of those light duty show bars and install some true protection to your Colorado and step system!!
GM YUKON XL/SUBURBAN ROCK SLIDERS
NEVER EVER weld rock sliders to your NEWER Yukon XL/Chevy Suburban! This leads to rusty, torn, and damaged frames as well possible sensitive electronic module damages. Yes, you may find cheaper and more poorly designed sliders than Rocky Road, but RRO kits are the best built in our industry, lifetime guarantee, ramped ends instead of ‘ramming’ ends, strong enough to easily handle a Hilift jack (whereas most others will not), bolted mounting systems (never welded!), powdercoat finish, available in several different styles and levels of side impact protection.
NOTE: Our engineered mounting system simply cannot be bent or damaged.
We pick up these trucks using a forklift with our rock sliders. The kits are mounting to heavily reinforced structural components on the vehicle. It is a more complex and well engineered mounting system and our lifetime guarantee backs that fact up!
Kicker Sliders and Superslider make an excellent step as shown in our photos. They stand off a few inches from the truck to protect not only offroad, but also in parking lots with errant doors!
GM YUKON XL/SUBURBAN ROCK SLIDERS ROBUST
You can pick up the truck with our rock slider kit. No other step/slider kit on the market can do this! Our Heavy Duty GM Yukon XL/Chevy Suburban Rock Slider kits are NOT the light duty ‘show’ bars.. which are sold by every other 4×4 shop. We use thick inner hitch steel to make sure your bars do NOT bend! Anything else is just plain flimsy. Most other “rocker slider” kits are made from 1/8″ wall or thinner material.. truly flimsy.
Please don’t group our kits in with those flimsy tube ‘show’ bars, as those will bend on a hard impact. In fact we often call those damage multipliers. As pretty as some of those "Other" Yukon XL/Chevy Suburban kits may look, when push comes to shove, and rocks come to crunch, those kits will will bend, and often times, they’ll shove themselves up into the body causing vehicle damage when they do collapse.
These Rock Sliders have a very sleek rounded look about them as we use genuine inner hitch steel in their construction. Hitch steel is not only very strong, it also has a nice radius corner instead of a hard boxy look. Inner hitch steel is the stuff you use to plug into 2″ receiver hitches. Its ‘sheer’ weight is astronomical as is its bending strength. Our shop press goes to 100 tons and we can’t even start to bend them.
Why hitch steel? Why not go with a lesser gauge steel to save production costs? Because we wouldn’t trust anything less to protect our vehicles and neither should you!
GM YUKON XL/SUBURBAN ROCK-SLIDER INSTALLATION
These rock sliders are very simple to install and are ‘bolt on’ with no welding or metal/plastic cutting at all. These kits are 100% bolt on and can be installed by anyone. Instructions outline the simple bolt on process for installation. Save money doing it yourself and you’ll be shocked at the short installation time!
In a nutshell, RRO GM Yukon XL/Chevy Suburban Rock Sliders are the strongest and thickest bars on the market, best mounting system, numerous superior engineering points. We have been asked about the mounting strength of the bolts used in our mounting system, the bolt system is stronger than most people think. Each bolt has a breaking strength of 318kgf !
KGF is equal to the amount of force required to accelerate 1kg at a rate of 1 meter per second. Put another way, each bolt requires one or more impacts of 700lbs to break it. The truck is using 9 mounting bolts per side to attach the rock slider which comes to a total impact load of 6,296lbs to break all of the mounting bolts. The ENTIRE weight of your truck on an average is 5,000lbs, and one side would be half that.
So yes.. our kits can hold one side of the truck if it comes down on a rock or stump.
If you have any questions or concerns at all about our mounting system being the very strongest on the market for any true rock slider, and would like a discussion on this, please email us.
SHIPPING EXPECTATIONS
These oversized truck slider kits must ship by semi-truck freight. As such, they must ship to a commercial location with a loading area suitable for semi-truck delivery (which the freight companies determine… not us). If a suitable commercial drop location is not available to you, then we will arrange for the kit to arrive at a freight terminal nearest your location for you to pick up from -- Normal BOL/LTL truck freight shipping on these kits runs $370-480 in the USA.. we do not collect these fees up front, but closer to shipping dates.
ROCK CRUSHER PACKAGE
You can now add our Rock Crusher package, this upgrades the outer tubing to VERY HEAVY DUTY 3/16″ DOM Tube, and an array of additional 3/16″ gussets along that outer tube..
